SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Let's visit Beirut which is the capital and largest city of Lebanon. Located on a peninsula at the midpoint of Lebanon's Mediterranean coast, Beirut is the country's largest and main seaport. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, inhabited more than 5,000 years ago. The first historical mention of Beirut is found in the ancient Egyptian Tell el Amarna letters dating from the 15th century BC. The Beirut River runs south to north on the eastern edge of the city. Since the end of the war in 1990, the people of Lebanon have been rebuilding Beirut, and by the start of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict the city had somewhat regained its status as a tourist, cultural and intellectual center in the Middle East and as a centre for commerce, f...
Check out some of the major tourist attractions in Lebanon's capital and largest city Beirut! The video starts in Beirut Raouche near the Pigeon Rocks, Beirut's most prominent landmark. Then it takes you to the Beirut Souks which boast a large number of upscale shops by major international brands. Close to the souks, you will find Nejmeh Square which is home to two cathedrals and the building of the Lebanese Parliament. The 1930s clock tower with the four-faced Rolex clock rises majestically in the center of the square. Martyrs' Square also lies in downtown Beirut. The square originally commemorated the martyrs fallen during Ottoman rule. In the 1950s, it became a popular venue for cinemas and coffee houses and later during the Lebanese Civil War it formed the demarcation line between East...

Subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Let's go visit the very popular “I Love Beirut” sign which is found at the lovely Beirut Souks in Lebanon. A lot of cities around the world are joining the fad of installing the “I Love …” signs which are usually placed in downtown area or where locals congregate. Or in touristy neighbourhoods. Place de l'etoile with the clock tower and part of downtown Beirut. This part of Lebanon's capital used to be a place bustling with people and activity but it is pretty deserted these days. Due to the recent demonstrations in Beirut, the area around the Lebanese parliament has been sealed off by the police and one has to pass through an improvised security check-point. As a result, there aren't so many people and quite a few businesses in the area have closed their doors.

Syria-related clashes between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad prompted Lebanese troops to deploy to a Beirut neighbourhood to calm tensions on Sunday. Soldiers in armoured personnel carriers and Humvees fanned across the predominantly Sunni neighbourhood of Tariq Jadideh. The deployment came after rival Sunni gunmen exchanged gunfire and rocket-propelled-grenades for several hours in the area, in the worst fighting in the Lebanese capital in nearly two years. The pro-Assad Arab Movement Party (AMP) said four of his followers were wounded in the fighting. State-run National News Agency said AMP fought against rival Sunni gunmen. The fighting comes after days of clashes, also related to the civil war next door in Syria, killed 25 people in the northern Lebanes...
The news report by ABC News on US plans to build an embassy in a Hezbollah area of Beirut comes as part of growing US involvement in the internal affairs of Lebanon. Here however, interesting questions arise when one puts into context this move in light of what has unfolded in Lebanon within the last year. It is evidently non-sensical for the US to build an embassy on the proposed site and these plans began way before 2006; what thus were the US strategic motives of the War on Lebanon waged by Israel in 2006? More accurately, what were the motives and interests of the US in the war on Lebanon? In what way did they use the UN Security council to achieve these goals seeing that they had detailed plans and wished to spread their tentacles to the strongholds of Hezbollah? Even more import...

I am in Beirut, Lebanon! I am currently interning with an amazing Christian nonprofit to help provide aid and relief for the Syrian Refugee crisis for the summer and am a little over a week in. I primarily work Mon-Thurs and Sunday so the clips are collection from some of the work and my time off. We have been doing a lot of work in churches and refugees camps. The refugee camps I have been to so far have asked us not to take pictures. But I am going to Bekaa Valley tomorrow, the largest Syrian refugee camp in all of Lebanon, for several days to film an organization that will be putting up tents and handing out supplies and hope to post about that soon! with love, elena @elenataber Come say hi: http://bit.ly/elenataber Business Inquiries: firstname.lastname@example.org

And in a year, a year or so this will slip into the sea Well, it's been a long time, long time now since I've seen your smile Nobody raise your voices Just another night in Nantes Nobody raise your voices Just another night in Nantes Well it's been a long time, long time now since I've seen your smile. And I'll gamble away my fright. And I'll gamble away my time. And in a year, a year or so this will slip into the sea Well, it's been a long time, long time now since I've seen your smile Nobody raise your voices Just another night ...
Lyric: All I want is the best for our lives my dear, and you know my wishes are sincere. Whats to say for the days I cannot bare. A Sunday smile you wore it for a while. A Sunday mile we paused and sang. A Sunday smile you wore it for a while. A Sunday mile we paused and sang. A Sunday smile and we felt true. (and) We burnt to the ground left a view to admire with buildings inside church of white. We burnt to the ground left a grave to admire. And as we reach for the sky, reach the church of white. A Sunday smile you wore it for a while. A Sunday mile we paused and sang. A Sunday smile you wore it for a while. A Sunday mile we paused and sang. A Sunday smile and we felt true.
An instrumental cover of Beirut's song Postcards From Italy. I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to have multiple videos going at once...and then I had to have cool transitions...this ended up being my whole day's work. Luckily, I love the song enough that I didn't mind listening to it all day :P Tabs will be available on the forums at http://www.ukuleleunderground.com within the next day or so. Postcards From Italy is off Beirut's album Gulag Orkestar.
